This circular food box has three interior compartments. The decoration on the body shows Europeans and European-style boats, while the painting on the lid is of flower sprays. Although European countries bought large quantities of these kind of boxes in the 18th century, Chinese customers also liked them because of what they saw as the ‘exotic’ quality of the decoration.
